Life is filled with dichotomies. In between deadlines at work, social engineering, fashion politics you are to rest up and be healthy.
I must admit, even at Fashionista in Danger where we work hard on not ignoring the bad that comes with the good it gets difficult. In the face of life just being life I guess… I found myself gravitating towards more delicate things… to soften a blow of life.
I watch Hallmark’s Good Witch ( only the first 5 seasons! And all the movies), wear purple and royal blue and use honey based hand-cream. That sort of hide and seek nature with life has got me thinking a lot about witchy wardrobe and what does it mean.
Picture the tender morning light casting soft shadows as you step into a dress the color of dawn. The soft fabric is a whisper of clouds against your skin, its gentle hue a reminder of hope and new beginnings.
This isn't merely dressing up; this is a ritual, a conscious choice to embody the gentle, nurturing spirit of a modern-day witch whose magic is spun from threads of kindness, understanding, and a deep reverence for the natural world.
As you drape a cozy shawl around your shoulders, the color of the calm evening sky, you’re not just warding off the cool breeze, but also wrapping yourself in the tranquil energy of twilight.
The materials you choose are soft whispers of the forest, the flowing waters, and the endless sky, each bringing with them the serene, grounding energies of the natural world.
It’s a way to carry with you, the comforting embrace of Mother Earth, as you navigate through your day. So I guess the point if you slow down your morning dressing up routine you become a witch! Just by the simple act of a ritual you may have changed the course of your day.
Think about colors you wear. The colors are not mere aesthetic choices; they are a palette with which you paint the world around you. The soft pastels bring a soothing vibe, the earth tones a sense of grounding, and the vibrant hues a spark of joy and creativity. Each color is a spell you cast, an aura you create, influencing not just your mood but the ambiance of the spaces you step into.
Not to overexplain but as every fashionista in danger knows wardrobe is our companion, our tool, a magic wand that helps you harmonize with the rhythm of the day, and radiate the peaceful, loving energy that is the essence of a witchy life.
Take velvet as an example. Velvet represent mystery - a connection to historical or traditional magical practices. It’s tactile and oddly calming. It’s something to do with its demand to be present when you are touching it. It just brings you back to the moment.
Then pockets, hoods and capes - all very witchy…Isn’t it wild to think that functional fashion for such a long time was a reason for burning? Wow, that got too dark for my little cosy session. So let’s take it back a notch...
Witchy fashion often transcends traditional gender norms, embracing a fluid and inclusive approach to clothing that allows for individual expression of personal and magical identity. Magical.
Fashion is a superpower and witch wardrobe is not an exception. It can be a tool to live a life more intentional, more kind, and infinitely more magical. Happy season of the witch have a pumpkin latte on me!
